The first tweet on Twitter is for sale on NFT marketplace
Sina Estavi, CEO of Bridge Oracle, has offered to sell Twitter founder Jack Dorsey’s first tweet for over $48 million, a 16-time increase over the price paid a year ago.
The first tweet that Jack Dorsey posted on Twitter, in which he says “just setting up my twttr”, was sold in March of 2021 for two million and 900,000 dollars in a digital auction.
Sina Estavi announced on Twitter that he would be putting the tweet up for sale on the OpenSea platform, one of the largest online marketplaces for NFT non-fungible tokens. Estafi said he will sell Jack Dorsey’s tweet dated March 21, 2006, for 14,969 ethers.
Estavi has indicated that he will allocate 50% of the proceeds from the sale of the tweet to the charity GiveDirect, which provides aid to people living in poverty and which Jack Dorsey backed with a share of the tweet’s first sale.
In response to the new sale, Jack Dorsey tweeted, commenting on Sina’s decision to donate half of the proceeds of the sale, saying: “Why not 99% of it?”, indicating that the current owner of the tweet must donate 99% of the proceeds of the new sale transaction.
