Aqua Barbie Girl will not feature in Margot Robbie’s ‘Barbie’ movie
The members of Aqua, who performed the hit classic “Barbie Girl” in 1997, spoke to Variety, revealing that the song won’t be featured in the upcoming movie “Barbie,” starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, but they also said they weren’t too bothered about it, explaining: “Good work never dies.”
Even without the song being part of the movie “Barbie” soundtrack, the song itself remains one of the most popular songs of all time, with its official music video recently surpassing a billion views on YouTube, showing that it’s still getting attention from viewers even after 25 years.
And as the band revealed, the renewed interest in the Barbie brand also helps draw more attention to the band’s song, even if it’s not present in the movie, as many moviegoers will likely search for the song after watching the movie.
Aqua released a remake for the 25th anniversary of their debut album earlier this month, and they currently have plans to go on more tours, and they’re still proud of their track “Barbie Girl,” which is still on today.
