US judge dismisses Cristiano Ronaldo rape lawsuit
A Las Vegas court dismissed Cristiano Ronaldo rape lawsuit in Vegas. The case was filed against him four years ago.
A Nevada woman has lost her bid to force soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo to pay millions of dollars, more than the nearly $375,000 she was paid for silence, after alleging he raped her in Las Vegas in 2009.
Ronaldo’s innocence came in a judgment of about 42 pages pronounced by the judge on Saturday evening, in which she confirmed that the rejection of the lawsuit came due to the way the plaintiff’s lawyer obtained some documents.
Members of Cristiano Ronaldo’s legal team do not doubt that the two were in a relationship together, but they confirm that the matter was consensual and that a confidentiality agreement prevents both sides from talking about the incident.
In her ruling, Judge Jennifer Dorsey said: “I find that the procurement and continued use of these documents was bad faith.”
The American model, Catherine Mayorga, filed a lawsuit in 2018, accusing Ronaldo of raping her in a Las Vegas hotel in 2009, which the Portuguese star denied and admitted at the time that what happened between him and the girl was with her consent.
