A Copenhagen police official said early this morning that among the dead were a man in his forties and two young men. He did not say how many people were injured, but he did say that three of them were in critical condition.
Videos and photos posted on social media showed people running outside the mall and ambulances lined up outside to deal with the incident.
An eyewitness who spoke to a Danish local channel said that he clearly saw the perpetrator, describing him as an armed young man in his twenties who had a long rifle and looked “violent and angry” and who was walking around screaming and running and smashing shop windows and the mall.
Denmark’s latest attack is the most serious since February 2015, when a gunman opened fire in the center of the capital, killing two people before the police could kill him.
