Festival director Alberto Barbera stated that the film marked Baumbach’s return after his film Wedding Story premiered at the festival in 2019.
Alberto Barbera said: “It is a great honor to open the 79th Venice Film Festival with ‘White Noise,”. Barbera stressed that the film is based on the novel by Don DeLillo of the same name and that Baumbach made an original piece of art, noting that the film studies our concerns, doubts, and our fears as captured in the ’80s.
Noah Baumbach said: “It is a truly wonderful thing to return to the Venice Film Festival, and an incredible honor to have ‘White Noise’ play as the opening night film.”
White Noise will be shown on Wednesday, August 31 at the Sala Grande in the Palazzo del Cinema “Lido di Venezia”.
