The late Queen Elizabeth II wrote a “secret” letter to the citizens of Sydney, Australia, and hid it inside the Queen Victoria Building in Sydney’s business district, one of the city’s most famous buildings. The secret letter from Queen Elizabeth can’t be read until 2085.

The late Queen Elizabeth stressed that this letter should not be read until after 63 years, that is, when it is opened in 2085.

Elizabeth wrote this letter after the major restoration work that took place in the building in November 1986, and it has been placed in a glass frame since this time, only showing the Queen’s instructions not to open the letter before the specified period.

The instructions came as follows: “To the Mayor of Sydney, Australia… On a suitable day to be selected by you in the year 2085 AD, would you please open this envelope and convey to the citizens of Sydney my message to them,”

It is worth noting that Queen Elizabeth II died last Thursday at the age of 96, and the Queen’s funeral is scheduled to take place on September 19 in London.
